Mr. Scott McKinney

The Delaware Valley Regional High School Board of Education is pleased to announce the appointment of Scott McKinney as the next Superintendent. Mr. McKinney was the Assistant Superintendent at Berkeley Heights Public Schools. He started his career at Governor Livingston School as a Social Studies Teacher. After teaching for several years, he became an administrator, serving in various positions.

He has an extensive background in educational leadership and is well-versed in curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation. He understands the importance of using technology as part of learning. He has been involved in leading the development of strategic plans which have paved the way for school improvement. His different and varied positions have allowed him to develop his supervisory skills and work with many groups of stakeholders.

Mr. McKinney has served as an athletic coach but understands the importance of performing arts and expanding opportunities for all students that will engage and enrich their educational experience at Del Val. 

Mrs. Teresa O'Brien

Mrs. O'Brien came to Delaware Valley Regional High School in 2013 with 18 years of experience as a School Business Administrator. She began her career in school business in Hunterdon County, spent the majority of her career in Lopatcong Township in Warren County, and most recently in Hackettstown Public Schools. Mrs. O'Brien earned her Bachelor's degree in Business Administration/Accounting from Kutztown University and completed a Master's degree in School Business Leadership from Wilkes University in 2019. Mrs. O'Brien has been recognized by the New Jersey Association of School Business Officials as a Registered School Business Official and Professional Mentor.

Mr. Michael Kays

Mr. Michael Kays

Originally from Belvidere, New Jersey, Michael Kays brings 20 years of experience as an educator to Delaware Valley Regional High School. After receiving both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Rider University in Lawrenceville, New Jersey, Michael began his career as a social studies teacher at Spotswood High School before moving on to Allentown High School. After over a decade in the classroom, Michael embarked on a career in administration, first as Vice Principal of Stonebridge Middle School in Allentown, New Jersey, then, as an Assistant Principal at Livingston High School in Livingston, New Jersey. Michael is excited to bring his experiences as a coach, mentor, and administrator to Delaware Valley Regional High School and take an active role in character-building through consistency and compassion.
