Academy Programs at DVRHS

Welcome! We are excited you are considering the DVRHS Academy program. This allows our students to apply for a Gifted & Talented track that will allow them to explore areas of interest and to help prepare them for their future careers.

We have five Academies: Arts, Biomedical Sciences, Business, Computer Science & Engineering, and Education.

You can find more information below on the requirements to graduate successfully from each.

Arts Academy

Students are required to complete a minimum of 30 credits in the performing arts (music, dance, and theater). They must complete a minimum of 5 credits in each of the areas: music, dance, and theater.

Dance Courses: Introduction to Dance, Commercial Dance, Dance Technique & Performance, Unified Dance

Biomedical Academy

In order to successfully graduate from the Biomedical Science Academy, students must complete at least 20 credits of Biology which includes five credits of Principles of Biomedical Science.

Although not encouraged, students taking Principles of Biomedical Science in their freshman year will not be required to take an additional freshman Biology class (Biology Honors or Biology CP) because it is assumed that they will meet the state requirement by taking AP Biology as an upperclassman. All students must pass either Biology CP, Biology Honors, or AP Biology in order to graduate.
