Meet the Director of Choral Activities

Mr. Adrian Camano, Director of Choral Activities and Vocal Music Teacher, is in his third year of leading the choral program at Delaware Valley Regional High School. He holds a Bachelor of Music Education degree with a concentration in Choral/Vocal Studies from The College of New Jersey, as well as a New Jersey Music Certificate of Eligibility with Advanced Standing. In the future, Mr. Camano plans to pursue graduate studies in both Choral Conducting and Vocal Pedagogy.

Throughout his four years at The College of New Jersey, Mr. Camano was an active choral artist, performing with the elite auditioned ensemble, TCNJ Chorale, in venues such as Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall, and Verizon Hall at The Kimmel Center for Performing Arts where he performed with The Philadelphia Orchestra. In addition, Mr. Camano was an active member of his collegiate competitive a cappella group, The Trentones, where he served as President, and competed in the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella in 2019 and 2020 at venues such as The Grand Opera House in Wilmington, Delaware.

Prior to graduating, Mr. Camano completed his student teaching practicum at Cranford High School where he conducted and oversaw 3 different choral ensembles: Concert Choir, Madrigal Choir, and the Treble and Tenor/Bass Choir. Mr. Camano also served as a Conducting Fellow for the distinguished Princeton Girlchoir and Boychoir at Westrick Music Academy under the direction of internationally renowned choral director Dr. Lynnel Joy Jenkins and former director of The American Boychoir, Mr. Fred Meads.

In the spring of 2023, under Mr. Camano’s leadership, the choral program was afforded a unique opportunity to perform in the This is Me Choral Festival at Lincoln Center for Performing Arts in NYC. Mr. Camano has also been nominated for a Paper Mill Playhouse Rising Star Award for Outstanding Achievement in Musical Direction Outstanding Performance By An Orchestra, and Outstanding Performance by a Chorus. Mr. Camano looks forward to another successful year at Del Val.

WHAT IS CONTEMPORARY A CAPPELLA?

Have you watched the Pitch Perfect movies?? We compete in the high school version of the same competition from the movie!

It's vocal style that involves only singing and no instruments. Well, there's a "kind" of an instrument involved, but it's made with the voice --- BEATBOXING!

Concert Choir

Concert Choir is a year-long performance ensemble course for students eager to explore and develop or refine their vocal skills. Tailored to diverse musical backgrounds, this dynamic course covers music skills, vocal technique, musical expression, and ensemble synergy. A variety of repertoire of different genres will be studied with the overarching goal of performance at the District Choral Festival, Annual Winter Concert, Annual District Arts Festival, Annual Spring Concert, and Commencement Ceremony. Through collaborative ensemble building and a focus on musical interpretation, Concert Choir sets the foundation for further musical exploration, including the opportunity to advance to Vox Auri. Beyond school performances, students will perform and participate in events such as Rowan University’s Tenor-Bass Festival, Music in the Parks adjudications which includes a day at an amusement park, NJ-ACDA’s High School Choral Festival, Walt Disney World’s Performing Arts Workshop, and many others! Rehearsals outside of school may be required. This course also provides students with skills they can use for vocal auditions for the Winter Musical, and Region and All State Honor Choirs. Enroll in Concert Choir, where voices unite to create long-lasting memories and celebrate the joy of musical expression.
