Art Club: This club encourages creativity through a variety of activities and projects, above and beyond the regular curriculum. Art Club will meet a minimum of 10 times per year. Activities will be based on student interest and can vary drastically from year to year. Students will also have the opportunity to participate in art exhibitions, critiques, service projects and field trips throughout the year. Art club is for all students, regardless of ability or experience. Members can come to one or all of the scheduled meetings. The goal is to provide a safe and inclusive environment for all students to grow and explore creativity, provide club members access to various art mediums and materials; and expose students to art and art history through the creative process, visiting artists and field trips.
Book Club: Book Club is a student-facilitated group focused on reading works of literature and discussing topics, ideas, and themes within those works. Students will select books (titles and/or genres), and the club will meet monthly to have a productive conversation based on the texts. If students wish to participate in Battle of the Books, students will instead read the list provided for the year, and group meetings will include practice “battles” where students will quiz each other using sample questions. The club meets once a month; chooses pieces of literature based on student interest; promotes literature discussion between students; prepares for Battle of the Books (based on student interest); and will possibly hold a fundraiser to support Battle of the Books participation.
Bring Change to Mind: Bring Change to Mind (BC2M) Club's mission is to end the stigma and discrimination surrounding mental illness. The vision and scope of the club is for DelVal students to create a platform to share their voices and raise awareness around mental health and wellness. The goal is to empower students to educate one another and their communities as well as create a positive culture of support within their school.
Buddies: The Buddies Unified program was created by volunteer staff, general education students, parents, and community members. The main goal of this club was to help students who have special needs or may not feel part of the school establish friends and a sense of school community at Del Val.
Drama Productions: Students have the opportunity to participate in four theatrical productions throughout the year. Del Val offers both a Fall and Spring Play, in addition to a Winter Musical. The fourth and final production is the annual Performing Arts Night of Shorts, a one-act festival consisting of student-directed, student-run short plays. Other than the Performing Arts Night of Shorts (which is limited to students enrolled in those courses), all students are eligible to participate in these activities, which include acting, stage crew, organizing props and costumes, and participating in set and lighting design.
Environmental Club: The Environmental Club strives to create a more sustainable and environmentally conscious community at Del Val. Club members have the opportunity to participate in discussion nights and projects that help make the school more sustainable. The programs that our club provides will help students realize that everyone can help the environment in small ways and still make a huge impact. The Environmental Club has three main goals for the 2022/2023 school year. The first is to participate in road/park clean-ups in order to help provide a clean local environment for people to enjoy and to keep wildlife from coming across trash. Another major goal of ours is to recycle items that would normally be tossed into landfills. We will be collecting items such as pens, markers, mascara brushes, candy wrappers, and old towels. Our last major goal is education. We plan to host monthly documentary/discussion meetings over zoom where larger environmental issues will be tackled.
Games Club: Games club is an open-membership weekly gathering of students and teachers who like to play board games, card games, and table-top playing games. We strive to be an inclusive club for all who want to have fun and participate in cooperative or competitive play. The goals are to provide a safe place for students to gather after school and play games with one another, to offer opportunities to experience and learn new games through exploration of our developing game inventory, and to develop cooperativeness, strategic thinking, problem-solving skills, and social-communicative skills. All through genuine face-to-face contact. For some students, the opportunity to practice leadership and team building and teaching opportunities. We also seek to work alongside other DVRHS groups who are interested in bringing joy to others. We have students from many different DVRHS organizations and teams in the Games Club. We are a Del Val club that focuses on our school community. We do not currently work with outside local organizations or engage otherwise with the outside community, although it isn’t ruled out.
International Club: This club strives to learn about different cultural groups and their practices, as well as educate the greater school population about cultural diversity. Students will learn about countries and cultures through conversations with individuals from different cultural backgrounds, organizing cultural events, and researching traditions. Cultural topics include, but are not limited to, language, food, events, holidays, clothing, education, and societal roles. The goals are to learn about different countries and cultures; to educate the Del Val community about international events; and to make the Del Val community aware of the international population in the school.
Key Club: The Key Club is a community-based organization of student volunteers who are dedicated to service in the school, family, community, county, and also to international causes. The goal is to provide community service to the community, continue advocacy, encourage student involvement, learn life skills, and assist with college applications. Activities include the NORWESCAP Food Drive, Trick or Treat for UNICEF and the March for Babies. Students are engaged in many other activities and events as well.
Literary Magazine: The literary magazine is an annual publication of Delaware Valley Regional High School. Artwork, prose, poetry, and other writing are submitted by the student body to the magazine staff. The club’s main responsibilities are the solicitation, review, selection, organization, and production of the literary magazine. In coordination with the magazine’s release, the club also organizes a “release party” to honor the writers and artists published in that year’s book. This is predominantly completed in the second semester of the school year. The goal of Changing Perspectives and the Literary Magazine is to provide a student-run, student-supplied annual print magazine and an ongoing digital space that encourages creativity in the school community and recognizes high-quality literary and artistic work.
Marching Band: There are various opportunities for the instrumental music students at Del Val. The basis for the entire program is the Concert Band, which is the only ensemble offered as a class. The Golden Regiment is the Marching Band and is probably the most visible group in the department, performing at football games, parades, contests, and civic functions. The Golden Regiment, an extracurricular activity, is open to all students in grades 8-12.
Model UN Club: Model UN is a simulation of the UN General Assembly and its other multilateral bodies where students perform an ambassador role while debating topics such as gender equality, climate action, global health, and more.
National Honor Society: This is a national organization that inducts members in their Junior/Senior year. Induction is selective and based on scholarship, leadership, and character.
Peer Leadership/Peer Mediation: This group is made up of upperclassmen and is designed to help new students adapt to their new school. This program is also designed for all peer leaders to be role models in the building. Freshmen will be assigned a peer leader to help them adjust to high school and who will be available throughout the year if problems develop.
SADD: This group is comprised of young adults confronting the risks and pressures that challenge them throughout their daily lives. The purpose is to create, equip, and sustain a network of student-run chapters in schools and communities focusing on peer-to-peer education. The inclusive organization welcomes all youth who seek support for healthy and safe development. This group fosters a sense of belonging and promotes resiliency, leadership, and advocacy skills so that young people make positive life decisions that will carry
them throughout life.
SAFE: SAFE exists to promote open discussion and awareness about modern culture and topics surrounding intersectionality while aiming to make positive contributions to our community and school. Our perpetual, long-term club goal is to help facilitate a welcoming, safe community in which everyone is treated well. The club engages in community events and advocates for each subset of the Del Val student body; hosts a Halloween-themed color run in October; recognizes and celebrates monthly themes; raises funds by holding a bake sale, kickball game, and other events; and lastly by recruiting more members.
Sport & Spirit: We participate in wonderful activities, which support all aspects of the school environment! We organize the appearance of Tuffy the Terrier at various school events, provide timers and scorekeepers for athletic competitions for various sports, and provide workers at numerous Del Val-sponsored events. Certain members of our club have secured a charter for Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation and sell lemonade at many events in order to donate to the foundation. Our Lemonade Charter has even won the top charter in the Northeast District!
Stage Craft Club: This club will assist in the construction, painting, and striking of play sets throughout the year. Club members will meet in small groups based on specific jobs that need to be completed. Students might have to work over holidays and weekends when the stage is available.
Student Council: This is the student-led governing body of the school. Members are elected by their peers and work in partnership with school administrators, staff, and the community for the benefit of the school and its students.
Tennis Club: This is an intramural sports club at DVRHS that meets weekly outside on the tennis courts during the fall and spring months. Our goal is to promote health and well-being while welcoming all students in a non-competitive environment. The club emphasizes learning the core mechanics of tennis (strokes such as forehand, backhand, and volley; serves; keeping score; and playing singles and doubles matches). During the winter months (December through March), we utilize scheduled court time at Courtside Racquet Club on Sunday afternoons. Tennis Club welcomes students of all ability levels to join us on the courts!
Thespians: This is an international group that supports and maintains Del Val’s drama productions. Members earn induction by participation in both Del Val and community theater productions.
